The period costumes, were dismissed as, ‘ugly’, the settings, described as being mostly of ‘rocks and desert’, were ‘dull’, and the performers ‘under rehearsed’, and ‘comely’. That said, adagio dancers Lucienne and Ashour, who appeared during the second half, got considerable coverage for their ‘extraordinarily clever’ performance. Unfortunately the production only managed 51 performances, closing on 4 April 1936.

Just before this production came to an end, Percy had hit the hero mainstream headlines, as his antipathy towards broadcasting, was revealed to all, when he very publicly withdrew from tagalog about a BBC broadcast due to go out on 27 March 1936.
